Transportation Choices

Families overwhelmingly support building better, safer ways to move throughout northwest lower Michigan. MLUI’s staff informs citizens and proposes solutions that ease traffic and increase everyone’s ability to get around whether they be motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, or those in a wheelchair.

The Thriving Communities team convenes the transit subcommitee of the Grand Vision, where bus agency officials, citizens, schools, large employers, and others develop solutions for improving northwest lower Michigan’s transit network. They work toward connecting the Grand Traverse region’s unique cities and villages with efficient, fixed-route bus service.

"Local Motion" provides resources to travelers in northwest Michigan whether they be commuters, visitors, and local families. By promoting more ways to get around the region, Local Motion will ease traffic congestion and keep more transportation dollars in the Grand Traverse region.
