Roar of the Crowd 2: Essentials of Investment Crowdfunding

WHAT: Northwestern Michigan College Extended Education, in conjunction with the Michigan Land Use Institute and the law firm of Olson, Bzdok & Howard, will host a conference entitled, "Roar of the Crowd: Essentials of Investment Crowdfunding” on Friday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at NMC’s University Center, 2200 Dendrinos Drive, Traverse City.

The conference, sponsored by FIM Group, is designed to provide businesses practical guidance on how to raise capital using investment crowdfunding and Michigan’s groundbreaking new “MILE” law. Businesses, community leaders, business support professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about investment crowdfunding are all welcome and encouraged to attend.  

The event will be headlined by two of the state’s preeminent experts on investment crowdfunding. Angela Barbash, the founder of Reconsider, the state’s leading local investment business advising firm, will facilitate a uniquely designed simulation to provide hands-on training to businesses on preparing, implementing, and following through with an investment crowdfunding campaign. Chris Miller, the DDA and Economic Development Director for the City of Adrian, and one of the state foremost leaders in the implementation of Michigan’s new intrastate investment crowdfunding law, will kick off the event and provide an important overview of crowdfunding and its impact on the local economy.

Breakout sessions will feature local and statewide experts and include topics on: legal aspects of investment crowdfunding, incorporating other funding sources, and elements of a successful campaign. Businesses running pioneering crowdfunding campaigns in Michigan will also be featured. The day also includes ample time for professional networking.
