HANS VOSSExecutive Director, points MLUI in the most effective direction by collaborating with staff on program strategy, cultivating relationships with key allies, and working with the Board, donors, and foundations to strengthen our financial health. JAMES BRUCKBAUER, Policy Specialist, promotes efforts to improve our passenger rail, regional transit and bike networks. He manages the Local Motion program, which helps companies encourage their employees to carpool, bus, bike, and walk to work.  He also plays leadership roles for Transportation for Michigan (Trans4M), a statewide coalition working to reform Michigan’s transportation policy. DIANE CONNERS, Senior Policy Specialist, manages and writes about MLUI’s farm-to-school and community wellness projects. The veteran journalist helps lead the region’s Food and Farm Network, which is increasing the region’s resilience by bolstering the distribution and sales activities that support local food and farming. JIM DULZO, Senior Energy Policy Specialist, is a veteran editor and freelance writer. Jim is MLUI's critical watchdog for MLUI's Clean Energy Team, keeping tabs and reporting on ever-evolving energy issues, including the fate of Michigan’s existing and proposed coal plants and our growing work on community-based energy efficiency. JIM LIVELY, Program Director, oversees policy staff and coordinates strategic development for all programs. As a former planner, he’s highly respected for diplomatically building bridges among citizens, local governments, and the state. Jim focuses on advancing transportation options and bringing vibrant community design to northwest Lower Michigan. Ext. 705. jim@mlui.org

AMY MACKAY, Development Director, is responsible for growing the base of supporters that provides MLUI’s long-term financial stability. As liaison to the Board, she oversees budgeting and financial reporting. She also directs development and administrative staff, and is the person to call to learn about current projects and priorities. Ext. 704. amy@mlui.org

Bill PalladinoBILL PALLADINO, Senior Policy Specialist, is helping the Institute build a new collaborative marketing campaign to increase the amount of food that is sourced locally in the region. Palladino was previously an MLUI board member, executive vice president of business results for ISB Worldwide, of Dallas, and ran his own consulting service, Krios Consulting, in Traverse City. Tricia PhelpsTRICIA PHELPS, TLD Coordinator, carries out the program’s marketing strategy in stores and markets across northwest Michigan to connect people with local food and products. Phelps previously managed two farmers markets, in addition to coordinating projects and communications for The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. Ext. 716. tricia@mlui.org

CINDY REBMAN, Accountant, is responsible for financial reporting and grant management. Rebman previously audited and consulted with area nonprofits regarding financial matters, system set-ups and controls.  She has more 20 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. JAMES RUSSELL, Communications Manager, works to make sure everyone knows about the important things going on at MLUI. He manages the website, email newsletters and social media to get our message out to the widest audience possible. Ext. 701. jrussell@mlui.org

AMY SCHNEIDER, Administrative Coordinator, helps all of our programs, communications, and membership systems run more smoothly. Schneider has degrees from the University of Michigan and Michigan State, and worked for 10 years in the insurance industry in Traverse City. Ext. 717. aschneider@mlui.org

SHAUNA TRETER, Program Development Specialist, manages our business and community giving program. Shauna is responsible for developing our business member and sponsorship opportunities, and works closely with our program and communications staff to engage business and community leaders in our work.
