The Grand Traverse County Road Commission’s proposed road and bridge across the Boardman River is a ticket to more sprawl and higher taxes:

  •  The project’s cost has doubled since 2001 to $55 million.
  •  A funding shortfall of up to $40 million would likely require a new countywide property tax.
  •  Keeping with this failed plan could squander the opportunity to secure millions of dollars in state and federal funds to genuinely relieve our region’s traffic congestion.

Attend the 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, meeting of the Grand Traverse County Road Commission at 1881 LaFranier Road (at Hammond Road), Traverse City. Tell Grand Traverse County Road Commissioners to hit the brakes on Hartman-Hammond and move ahead with real, cost-effective traffic solutions. Or call the county road commission office to reach your commissioner: 231-922-4848.
